Being a perpetual early adopter of software updates we are already up and running Windows 10 on our server, laptops and even a Surface. The upgrades went without any issues and we have tested: Catia, Abaqus, Isight, Tosca and fe-safe with the DSLS (Dassault Systèms License Server) hosting the license files. One of our customers, Optimax Systems Inc has installed their DSLS on Windows 10 as well and provided their installation notes for DSLS and Abaqus. It’s great to have cool customers that are willing to help out!

DSLS Installation and License File Enrollment on Windows 10
A special thanks to Tyler Young and Matt Brunelle from Optimax for providing their user experiences!
- Go to the location where you have the server install saved and run the “SetupDSLSmsi.exe”
- Select next, then next again, next again
- Now select install.
- Make sure that your “License Server name” is the name of the computer that you are installing the serve on.
- Next you will need to screenshot the “Server Configuration” and email it to whoever will be getting the license for your server. (To get to this double click the name of the server in the dashboard)
- After you receive the license save it locally to the server. Once you have it saved locally click license than “Enroll” and point it to the license file.
- That is all make sure that you connect the server.
Abaqus Installation on Windows 10
Abaqus Documentation
- You will first need to install the Abaqus documentation. Which can be found by following this link (https://software.3ds.com/orders/id/-PIcDWlDyL1i/Io6mi19m0rZOt8M=-) you will need to download the two files found at the bottom of the page. Please note if you do not have an account you will need to create one to get to this page.
- After these files are downloaded put them into a folder together.
- Next you will need to install “PeaZip” using the following link. (http://download.cnet.com/PeaZip/3000-2250_4-10602256.html) After it downloads run it and follow the installation wizard.
- Now you will need to extract the files using PeaZip. Go to the folder where you saved the documentation. Right click the first file select “PeaZip” and choose “extract here” Do the same process with the other file.
- Once these files are extracted you should see a new folder named “DOC_SIMULIA_Abaqus.AllOS” Go into the folder and run the “Setup.exe” (See image below)
- Follow the installation wizard to install the documentation (See visual guide below)
- Congratulations the documentation is now installed! You can now proceed to the next steps.
Abaqus Installation
- To install Abaqus go to the place where you have the install saved and run “setup.exe”
- The installation wizard will start up. Follow the visual guide below. Depending on your configuration you may or may not see some of the prompts.
- (You will now need to restart)
- If a shortcut was not created now is the time. You will now need to make a shortcut on your desktop by following this path (C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Abaqus 6.14-2)
- That is it all installed!
I hope you found this informative. Again thank you to Tyler Young and Matt Brunelle from Optimax for providing the installation notes. Please feel free to comment, like, subscribe, contact us or whatever else can be done today! Thank you.

Hi, i went through your little guide because suddenly DSlicenseserver stopped working.
when i got w10, CATIA started smoothly, but recently it goes on saying “there is no suitable license to fulfill the XXX request”… how to fix that?
Hi Fabio,
Can you post the exact error message? I can then use that to search the support DB. If you have already solved it please post how you did it. Thank you.
Rob
The same thing happened to me. In december 2015. Any fix?
Please help me ….. I installed abaqus 6.14-1 on my windows 10 …. the installation went smoothly but there was one problem.
there is no import option in the “file menu” … I can’t import any model into abaqus and I don’t even know where the problem is 🙁
Hi Muhammad,
Without more information it will be difficult to diagnose the issue. There might be a simple workaround.
Try going to Tools>Customize>Functions>File
From here you could assign a shortcut or drag the command to a custom toolbar.
If this doesn’t work hopefully tech support will be able to assist more.
I hope this helps.
Rob
Hello the same issue, There is no suitable license at the begining. Please help
Alin,
Here are a couple of ideas which will hopefully help.
Check that C:ProgramDataDassaultSystemesLicensesDSLicSrv.txt has ServerName:4085
Check that in Task Manager that under the Services tab DS License Server has Running as it’s status.
You could also upgrade your DSLS to the latest version if you haven’t already. Some Windows service packs caused issues with older versions of DSLS.
I hope this helps.
Rob
Yeah, two license managers and both of them are running without any problem. Btw, the latest license manager is already installed R2015 SP3.
Please help, tnx.
Hello, I downloaded abaqus and the installation went smoothly but when i want to run it i only find documentation, i’m on windows 10 by the way and when i try to install it the way you showed in the guide when i go to (LINK REMOVED) it says : Maximum number of user for this order is reached, you cannot access to the content of this order. What should i do?
Hello, I removed the link that you provided since that should be unique to your company. Judging by the error message I think that there is a limit to the number of times you can download from a specific link. If you contact your reseller they should be able to help.
Hello Sir
I have installed CATIA V5R20 in windows 10. The installation and cracking went smoothly and there is no issue related license. But whenever I opens CATIA from the desktop, after few seconds of loading the software a pop-up windows appears showing a message “Runtime Exception, Click OK to terminate” when I click OK the whole CATIA shuts down and if I again try to open it the same thing occurs. I have tried by changing the compatibility options also. But still it’s showing the same message. Please do help me out from this.
I have CATIA Version 5-6 Release 2016 installed. They might have done fixed some compatibility issues since R20 which is several years old. Can you try installing the latest version or is this not an option? Any details that you can provide will help in diagnosing the issue. Thank you.
Rob
PS: I’m assuming ‘cracking’ was a typo.
hello, I am getting this error when installing Abaqus on Windows 10:
Action LaunchAppAction from feature CODE\win_b64\InsDataFW_SE failed.
Action ID: addCommandsDirToPathVar
Private ID: 70c7b0df056f5dff8495ca23ea7b2eb8c4623b952f1b3cec1609afee25bfa21f
Error code: Type: ERROR, Error: 1, Owner: 30a
Any idea what I should do to fix it?
thank you
Hello,
Did you run it as an Admin? It looks like a permissions error. If you did get it to work please post the solution to help others.
Thank you.
Rob
Hi,
I am trying to install Isight 5.9-6 on Windows 10 but I keep getting a “this media is not for Windows OS” error message when I run the setup.exe file. I’ve tried running it as an admin, in compatibility mode and with a -nosystemchecks via the command line. Any ideas what the issue could be?
Thanks,
Steve
Hi Steve,
Are you sure that you have the Windows 64-bit version?
I hope this helps.
